If you like plants you'll love Holme

Your local garden centre with knowlegeable staff

The Garden Centre is a wonderful environment to browse plants

The range is superb with very wide selections of trees, shrubs, climbers, cottage garden perennials, roses, grasses and bedding plants. We grow what we can but we also deal with many specialist nurseries from Dorset and the south west. However, if we can’t fill the range locally we have suppliers up country, in Holland, Germany and Italy.

All our garden centre staff are keen gardeners and know how to look after and nurture plants which means we have very healthy plants and can provide customers with top quality advice. Combine this expertise with our knowledge of the horticultural industry and the result is an amazing selection of plants at good value for money.

If you consider yourself a novice gardener we can help with all the advice you need whereas if you are already an experienced gardener you will be able to find interesting plants in our range to make your garden distinctive.

Whilst here why not enjoy a tour of our rapidly developing gardens to be inspired, take in the scents and see some very unusual plants.

The Romance of Roses at Holme for Gardens

The Romance of Roses

At Holme we love roses and put a great deal of time and thought into developing the range we offer. Krissi, our resident Rose expert and Simon sit down together for a whole day to look through catalogues and vigorously discuss the merits and shortcomings of each variety. The roses are rated on beauty, shape, style, flowering time, disease resistance and of course scent.

Last year’s range is pruned by about a third to make way for new introductions and returning old favourites. This year nearly 50 varieties have gone and the range has been broadened to 170 varieties in total.

These are all excellent forms but Krissi and Simon have gone a stage further and selected 25 deemed to be of exceptional merit and possessed of outstanding qualities in terms of beauty, scent, repeat flowering and health. These Roses will form the ‘Holme Romantic Rose Collection’. This new range and all the other varieties will be available from mid-November.

Christmas Gift Ware at Holme for Gardens

Christmas Gift Ware at Holme

As soon as the children go back to school after the summer holidays, and the nights start drawing in, our thoughts turn to Christmas. All the Farm shop goodies and gift ware stock has already been reserved, some as early as January this year! We get very excited unpacking all the boxes of treats, eats and gifts and can’t wait to unpack it all and create some beautiful displays for you. Don’t worry, we won’t do a big supermarket and start Christmas in August, but do come in and have a browse from the end of September to find just the right pretty gift or ornament for friends and family.
